Brunnby church and its churchyard

Brunnby

Rural parish on the outer peninsula, centered on a whitewashed medieval church just south of Arild, with vineyards and a spa hotel.

On this page

Brunnby is less a village than a parish: it covers the whole outer peninsula, including Kullaberg, Mölle and Arild. On the ground the name refers to the small church village inland from Arild, home to about 100 people among fields, horse paddocks and copses.

Brunnby church

The church was built in the 1100s, and its tower and vaults were added in the 1400s. The vault paintings, attributed to the so-called Helsingborg Master, were uncovered again during the 1911–12 rebuilding. The pulpit from 1623 bears Christian IV's monogram, and votive ships hang in the vaults. The spring about 200 m south of the church gave the parish its name.

A countryside base

Brunnby suits travelers who want space and quiet with everything close by. Arilds Vingård and Arild itself are within walking distance, the Villa Brunnby spa hotel is in the village, and Kullaberg's woods are a short bike ride away.
