The purple loop is the shortest of the three accessible loops at Björkeröd, in the quieter eastern part of Kullaberg nature reserve. Its 800 meters run on an even, stable surface through beech forest and pasture, and it is made for wheelchair users and visually impaired visitors. Allow about 20 minutes, or longer if you bring a picnic for the tables and grill site at the start.

The route

All three loops start at the Björkeröd car park, which has an accessible toilet. The purple loop makes a short circuit right beside it. For about 45 meters the path runs through a pasture with two self-closing gates, and in places it slopes a little. At the loop's far corner you meet the Red trail, which the white and black loops follow on to Mölle mosse. Kullaleden's shortcut between Mölle and Himmelstorp shares the loop's west side.

Along the way

Sheep sometimes graze in the pasture; if they are out, pass calmly so you don't frighten them. Just east of the car park lies Björkeröds mosse, a small lake that was dry in the early 1900s. Since its water was raised again in 1974, it has become a rich site for birds, says Länsstyrelsen, which manages the reserve.

Yellow boxes along the path are Bluetooth beacons for the Kwenda app, which gives nature guidance on your phone as you pass them and can read the text aloud. At Björkeröd the app has an English version and modes for visual impairment, wheelchair users and cognitive impairment, as well as a general one.
