The route
From the car park on Östra Vägen in Lerberget, at the south end of the wood, it's a short walk to the loop. It runs north through the trees and back on the other side; a lap takes about 20 minutes at a walk. An outdoor gym stands next to the track. Hälsans stig (the Health Path) passes the car park, and Kullaleden follows the shore a short walk to the west.
Along the way
In the 1800s this was treeless, sandy grazing land with drifting sand. Some pines were planted early on to hold the sand, but most of today's pine, birch and oak grew up in the 1900s. Small birds thrive in the dense mixed woods, warblers above all, and about 50 nest boxes give more of them a place to breed. Woods are scarce along Skåne's west coast, so migrating small birds stop here to rest and feed. The wood also has one of the municipality's QR walks: scan the diamond markers to read about the place and its wildlife.
