Vikenrundan, the Viken loop, is a 6 km walk by the sea and through both old and new Viken, marked by Höganäs municipality. It is flat and easy, mostly on foot and cycle paths and village lanes, and in about two hours you are back at the harbor, in time for dinner by the boats. Red waymarks show the way, and there are information boards at the harbor and in Vikenparken.

Start at the small-boat harbor, where there are car parks, toilets and restaurants. From there the loop follows the shore west around the old village, then north along the Öresund on sand and gravel paths, between the sea and the golf course and past two bathing places, Vikens havsbad and Svanebäck. As far as Svanebäck, about 2.5 km, it shares the shore path with Kullaleden, so you will see orange markers too. There it turns inland and north to the woods of Svanebäcksskogen, then runs east and south through newer neighborhoods to Vikenparken, where the second board stands by the pond. The last stretch follows a foot and cycle path back into old Viken, past the Sophiamöllan windmill and down to the harbor.
Along the way
- The shorethe sandy beaches at Vikens havsbad and Svanebäck, with Svinbådan lighthouse offshore; on a summer day, bring a swimsuit
- Old Vikenthe lanes and half-timbered houses around the harbor, and the Sophiamöllan windmill
- Grinding groovesjust west of the cycle path between Vikenparken and the old village, five sandstone slabs carry some 560 grinding grooves, about 300 of them on a single slab; they are thought to date from the Stone Age
- Vikens parkslingathe board in Vikenparken is also the start of the municipality's 1.5 km park loop, waymarked in blue, in and around the park with its pond, playground and dog run
Good to know
- Waymarksthe red marks can be far apart in places, so keep an eye out for the next one
- Surfacemostly paved paths and lanes, but the shore section crosses sand and gravel
- Dogson a leash at the bathing places and playgrounds; the bathing places are off-limits 15 May–15 September, except to cross on a leash, and Svanebäck has a dog beach
